Columbia University’s New York campus offering in Bioethics has vastly increased in popularity as student and practitioners of law and medicine must understand and make decisions on complex ethical and moral dilemmas. Solutions require specialized and cross-disciplinary knowledge spanning ethics, law, society, culture, public policy, philosophy, religion, economics, history, and even language.
Columbia’s online Bioethics Certificate program prepares students to address these challenges through an innovative learning experience featuring live webinars, multimedia, and collaborative course activities.
The program provides insightful perspectives from philosophy, social sciences, and other humanities for health care providers (including physicians and nurses), researchers, institutional review board members and staff, public health professionals, attorneys, pharmaceutical industry professionals, and others who confront sensitive ethical decisions concerning the interaction of healthcare and people. The specially designed online curriculum gives a sophisticated analysis of the historical, philosophical, legal, social scientific, and practical, hands-on aspects of bioethics.
